Last fall, the UNESCO World Heritage Grube Messel organized for the first time, on five consecutive Sundays, public reading afternoons with special invitations for migrants. The series began on 4 November 2018 with the authors Franziska Franz and Richard Birkefeld. Both read allegories from "The Bone Counter of Haithabu!". These series of reading afternoons is a special action in cooperation with the UNESCO Global Geopark Bergstraße-Odenwald.
The Messel pit sees itself as a mediator between generations, people and cultures, building on the special power of personal exchange of literature. All author attending were part of the EU-RURITAGE project, therefore RURITAGE was also present during some of these afternoons.
