Sustainable Rural Regeneration Conference at UNESCO’s headquarters on 9 and 10 June 2022

On the 9th and 10th of June 2022, RURITAGE will host its final conference at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris. During the conference, practitioners and international experts on rural development, local communities implementing heritage-led actions, as well as European Commission representatives and EU funded projects will come together to deliver a series of talks on Sustainable Rural Regeneration and reflect on the future of rural development in Europe and beyond.

Cultural and natural heritage, in all its manifestations, are pillars of the identity, cohesion and well-being of communities. The transformative power of cultural and natural heritage is increasingly recognized as a key enabler for sustainable development, particularly in rural areas facing chronic economic, social and environmental challenges. RURITAGE is a European Union Horizon 2020 funded project that created a new paradigm for the regeneration of rural areas by using their unique Cultural and Natural Heritage (CNH) as a driver to boost sustainable development and increase competitiveness.

During the two days, sessions of various formats will be held, including an interactive workshop on rural future scenarios, discussions with European leading researchers and practitioners and an information session for Member States. Sessions of the 9th June and the afternoon of 10th June are reserved to discussions of in-presence participants.
