RURALIZATION

Short description of the project:

RURALIZATION  a 4 year project, funded by the EU programme for research and innovation Horizon 2020, which started in May 2019. The project aims at triggering a process of ruralisation, that is, a development towards a new rural frontier where new generations find economic and social opportunities. It will analyse trends, make an inventory of rural dream futures of the youth, study promising practices enabling rural newcomers, new entrants to farming and farm successors and analyse rules, policies and actions to provide access to land. The outcomes will be discussed with stakeholders in regional rural contexts to upscale positive experiences; to jointly formulate novel options for policymakers and practical tools for rural actors.

Liaison with RURITAGE:

RURITAGE was presented in the second and third RURALIZATION newsletter.

RURITAGE and RURALZATION collaborate in the framework of the Horizon Results Booster, which is a package of specialised services, developed by the European Commission, with a view  to maximise the impact of R&I public investment. Both projects applied to Service 1 – Module B: helping projects from the portfolio to design and execute a portfolio dissemination plan. This module focuses on helping the project group to design a common dissemination plan for the portfolio and to carry out the actual dissemination of the portfolio results.

As a result of cooperation with RURALIZATION, RURITAGE was also invited to make a presentation at RURALIZATION webinar titled ‘Impact of COVID-19 on young people in EU rural and urban areas’ that took place on 15 September 2020.   RURITAGE presented  ‘Thinking beyond the COVID-19 crisis: heritage-based opportunities for rural regeneration’, based on the initiatives that the project collected during spring 2020 and the recently published Vision paper. Also the Role Model PIAM presented their COVID-19 action targeting migrants integration. More information about the event and RURITAGE involvement is available at: https://www.ruritage.eu/news-events/ruralization-webinar-impact-of-covid-19-on-young-people-in-rural-and-urban-areas/.

RURITAGE and RURALIZATION exchanged social media accounts to be regularly updated about new project results and upcoming activities of mutual interest.

Further networking activities will be developed.
